INTRODUCTION TO HOSPITALITY

Work Ready Program, Coming Soon!

The Work Ready Program in Hospitality is designed to support participants in developing the practical skills, confidence, and knowledge required for future opportunities within the hospitality industry.

The program combines hands-on cooking experiences with workplace readiness skills in a supportive learning environment.

Throughout the program, participants build practical cooking abilities such as safe knife handling, food preparation, following recipes, kitchen organisation, cleaning procedures, and working safely within a kitchen environment.

Participants are also introduced to important hospitality concepts including teamwork, communication, time management, personal presentation, and workplace expectations.

A key focus of the program is preparing participants to progress toward completing a Food Handling Certificate.

Participants learn essential food safety practices including hygiene, cross-contamination prevention, temperature control, and safe food storage, helping to build the foundational knowledge required for formal food safety training.

The program aims to increase independence, confidence, and workplace readiness while allowing participants to practise hospitality and kitchen skills through structured, hands-on activities.

By developing both practical cooking skills and industry knowledge, participants are better prepared for future hospitality pathways, further training, volunteering, or employment opportunities.

Program Focus Includes:

  • Safe knife handling and food preparation skills
  • Kitchen safety, hygiene, and food handling practices
  • Following recipes and working independently
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Time management and workplace expectations
  • Preparation for future hospitality opportunities and Food Handling Certificate pathways
